Quake done Quick

Our FAQ section contains answers to the questions we're asked the most frequently (there's a surprise.) It has been slowly evolving over time and we figured the time had come to advertise it properly on the site. Anyone who wants to claim some of the jumps we perform are impossible cheats now has to argue with Yonatan's kinematics equations. That'll teach them.

New QdQ movies to be released soon

Friday, 31st October 1997 by Anthony

Our team has worked for quite a while on two new projects besides our main project (Scourge done Slick). Those projects are a speedrun of Beyond Belief, and a full run of Quake, including the secret levels, with 100% kills and secrets on all levels. They will be out when they're done, which might be pretty soon. :)

But we could use your help. Once again, we're looking for good cameramen - if you think you're good with ReMaic and can make good looking camera demos, mail us with a small example of your work (under 200kb zipped, please). We have lots of cameramen already, but there is much work to be done this time. We'd also appreciate any suggestions you have for a good name for the movie.

Reading through a strange article

Saturday, 11th October 1997 by Anthony

The main Planet Quake article this week is Zigzagging Through A Strange Universe. It grew out of various things QdQ have noticed with the physics of Quake as we tried to cut down our running times, and in particular a rather odd technique called zigzagging which enables a player to run faster without cheating. (In case you are wondering, we didn't use it in Quake done Quicker.) The article branches out into other areas too, such as some of the old anomalies in DooM. In particular, there some sections on the principles behind damage-boosts and explosions; these are recommended reading for getting the most out of tricks such as rocket-jumping.
