New trick for E2M2

Tuesday, 24th June 1997 by Anthony

Stefan Schwoon sent us an interesting route for this level that looks quicker and still gets the grenade-launcher and super shotgun (which we need later in the episode.) It involves getting the Quad, then going straight to the grenade-launcher, then out the window a second time for the yellow armour. Then approach the final area via the water (you can miss the gold key altogether) and use a Quad grenade-jump to get out of the water to the passage to the exit area. Sounds neat.

Episode 4 to be re-run

Sunday, 22nd June 1997 by Anthony

Since we now seem to have tricks and improved skills that will take at least thirty seconds off our time for Episode 4, probably more, we intend to re-record our run for that Episode over the next few weeks. We may also put the new run into a second QdQ whole game movie. If we do we will tidy some presentation details at the same time.

New trick for E4M1

Sunday, 22nd June 1997 by Anthony

Yet another short-cut in Episode 4 is possible: by using the slope to get extra upward velocity, one can explode the container on E4M1 from far enough away to get blasted up to the gold keycard without dying. We have an 0:40 demo now and maybe we will do better yet in the future.

New trick for E4M5

Thursday, 19th June 1997 by Anthony

Nolan knocked a second off the E4M5 time today. We all thought 0:16 was optimal for this very quick level, but he found a new trick. Collect the megahealth, ring of shadows, armor and Quad en route to the pit, and then explode a Quadded grenade against the sleeping fiend...

QdQ moves to PlanetQuake

The QdQ team got our PlanetQuake account today. So this is our first update to our new home, although we're not open to the public yet.

New trick for E4M3

predates page by Anthony

I thought I better place this here as well as on the ideas page since a few people have written to tell us about it thinking we didn't know. You can use some upward velocity and architectural decorations in the start room of E4M3 to get up onto those side ledges. This lets you complete the level in less than a minute. Thanks to all who wrote; and congratulations on finding it, it took us long enough!
