RUN DMC -- a TeamSDA production in 2005 (0) Index (1) Introduction (2) Installing (3) Statistics (4) Credits and contact info (4.1) Credits (4.2) Utilities used (4.3) Contact info _______________________________________________________________________________ (1) Introduction RUN DMC is an run through the DeathMatch Classics custom episode (http://speeddemosarchive.com/quake/maps/dmc1.dz) on Easy skill in just one minute and seventeen seconds. The run was recorded one level at a time and various tools (see below) were used to stitch the demos together in the usual QdQ fashion. Despite the superhuman playing ability on display absolutely no cheats of any kind were used in the making of these demos, it's just good, old fashioned skill. Then, for a bit of added fun, we decided to make the whole thing into a movie. For more details about the DMC levels see the .txt in the map download given above. (2) Installing RUN DMC 1. Create a folder in the quake directory (e.g. rundmc). 2. Extract files there from the dzip file. 3. Edit the autoexec.cfg file to suit you. 4. Start quake with the following quake -game rundmc (or whatever directory you extracted it to). Recamming by: Michael Hudson, Mathias Thore and Richard Skidmore. Programming and packaging by: Mathias Thore. Thanks to Thomas Stubgaard for comments and encouragement (the only member of TeamSDA not directly involved :). We also want to thank the following people who created a lot of handy programs: Uwe Girlich, Anthony Bailey, Stefan Schwoon, Jozsef Szalontai and Roman Priborkin. The music used in the menu is "It's Tricky" by Run DMC and the music in the credits is "Walk This Way" by Run DMC/Aerosmith. Both are used totally and utterly without permission. We tried to ask but the Reverend Run and Steven Tyler didn't respond to our email so we just assumed that they wouldn't mind. (4.2) Utilities used The utilities we used included: demtool, demorelise, ihack, lmpc, qdqstats, ifix, remaic, remaic studio, a text editor, python, some knotted pieces of string and Quake. We wrote some demo processing tools of our own where needed. (4.3) Contact info You can reach us in #qdq on quakenet, and on the web at http://speeddemosarchive.com/quake TeamSDA 2005-05-19
