As you can read in my SDA update (15th August), we're very eager to get your ideas/comments on how we should do The Nolans 2002.

What new categories would you like to see?
What categories should we remove?
How should we present the awards?
Anything else?

"most useless trick/movement in a perfectly good demo/record"

"most agile mouse movement"

"best cinography"

"best soundtrack"

"people named nolan" (first place would be nolan I guess)

enough ideas ;))

enough ideas ;))

NO! :-)

More ideas are more than welcome!

best quadded mo in a demo?
maybe not just a jump, maybe someone will get 70 kills with 1 quad or something

you should make the nolans awards a anual event. In which only the demos of the past year are valid to pick from.

"best route change"
"best newcomer"
"best route tweak"
"best 100% nr/er"
"best er/nr"
etcetc.

But only for the last 12 months of entered demos. and make the ROTW demos count, afterall, these are runs too.
Take the film festival Cannes as example.. Make one large list of ALL created and entered demos from the past year.
Spread it, and make people pick...

"best cheated! run er/nr"

etc

endless possibilities ..

"you should make the nolans awards a anual event. In which only the demos of the past year are valid to pick from."

Err??? That has been the point from the beginning when we made the first Nolans in 2001 !!! I think you _haven't_ been paying attention....

"But only for the last 12 months of entered demos"

Err, seems like you haven't been paying attention again :-)

what about the "biggest flaw in a demo"?

the last shotgun shots in e2m4_046 for example. =P

KenPosted - 17 August 2002 19:57 PST
That would be: Biggest flaw in a demo you can't beat.

We live, as we dream - alone.

-SCUT-OpenGLPosted - 17 August 2002 23:30 PST
ok, it can be "biggest flaw in a non-tablefiller demo". because when a demo has some major flaws and still beats the old time, it seems meaningful.

another idea: the player that has produced most low quality demos. (seems to be me) =P

mineraalPosted - 18 August 2002 3:43 PST
subby: you are absolutely right, I thought the nolans 2001 where for ALL demos ever made..
sorry, just don't pay attention to what I'm saying, it's meaningless. But sometimes there is usefull info between the lines ;))

so to speak..

ZZzz.z...zz....

hmm

how about a best demo that will be in a qdq production? this would limit demos to be entered but would be a fierce competition .. although this may mean that only certain people get to vote .. however i think it would be cool to know the best demo hasn't been released yet :) like the e5m9 ER
