Anything you want to add here (about yourself)?
Just think, I was playing 3D Monster Maze (the first FPS type game I can remember) on my ZX81 before some of the other speed runners were born. HOW CAN I STILL BE SO BAD??
Also, the picture is from my wedding day. I have absolutely no Scottish connections, I just happen to like kilts.

Quake-related Information

Your nickname (story behind it)?
Morfans_the_Ugly. Started using it when I played a lot of TeamFortress. It's a character from the Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell.

Your Quake config (key bindings, etc.)?
+mlook, TFGH forw/back/st-left/st-right, left button fire, right button jump, standard weapon keys (1-8). And I now have fullbright/waterwarp/sensitivity settings at a sensible level thanks to Stubby and Nolan. Cheers guys.

Size of Quake directory on your HD?
3.5Gb. That's a lot of speed running and TF demos plus many mods/ levels.

Your computer (processor/videocard etc.)?
PII 450 512M Riva TNT

Quake settings (resolution, version etc.)?
Winquake 1.09 320x200

First contact to speedrunning (when, how etc.)?
QdQr

First speedrunning demo?
r2m7 The Last Bastion. NR. I found a cool first-of-its-kind multi rocket emerging-from-the-water jump that cut a minute off the existing run. I managed a 30 second improvement which Optic (I think) improved by the other thirty seconds a week later. That's been the pattern from then on really: Find a trick; Run it badly; loose the record shortly after.

Favorite speedrunning demo(s) from yourself (the one(s) that you're most proud of)?
Most of mine have been pretty bad. But some of the coop stuff rocks, and my pg3 NH was okay (until Justin beat it).

Favorite speedrunning demo(s) from others?
I just love watching demos, even bad ones. But my absolute favourite is anything that looks "pure". By which I mean some demos have an unreal, almost inhuman quality to them. Most of Peter's stuff, a lot of Markus's, Perkele's Ebon Fortress, some Ilkka and now Jozsef is starting to produce them.

Favorite player (overall/runs/100%/marathon/coop)?
Overall: Peter for sheer lunacy and Optic for sheer volume.
Runs: Martin/Markus
100: Thomas/Nolan
Marathon: Nolan for his NH all of SoA

Favorite trick in a demo?
The spike mine jump. Gotta be. Or maybe any trick involving a fish. Or any perfectly executed looong bunny.

Favorite QdQ release?
They all kick arse. Except I can't get BHDQ to run. :-(

Favorite original Quake map?
Start. :-)

Favorite custom map?
Any of the later Mexx levels.

Most annoying monster/map?
I get annoyed every time I see that total waste of wobbly space shub. What kind of an end of game boss is that????

Do you like Doom/Quake2/Q3A?
yes/okay/Q3Fortress is cool.

What do you think of Quake now?
Still the best. Other games are good but don't come close long term.

Quake Purity Test score? link
76.6%

Anything else you want to add here?
A big thank you to everyone that's helped or contributed to SDA/QdQ. Even when I have no time to run I still manage to watch. Long may it continue.
